Oakland County Parks is focused on environmental leadership, action and practice in the community. Staff is available as a resource for local governments and the public to advise in their areas of expertise and assist homeowners, municipal employees, non-profit organizations and educational institutions in implementation of best practices.

Polish your own Petoskey Stone

Michigan’s state stone is the Petoskey stone, a fossil colonial coral. Using different sandpaper grits and some “elbow grease,” participants will pick out and polish their own stone to take home while we talk about other local fossils and minerals. All materials provided. Cost is $5/person. Preregistration with payment required by calling 248-858-0916 weekdays or 248-585-0100 during nature center hours or register online.
