Spring at the market

Spring is always a great time at the Oakland County Farmers Market. In addition to events like Spring Flower Days, Document Shredding Day and popular Yoga and Tai Chi Wellness Series, the market begins to bloom with all types of of flowers and we start to see the first locally grown produce of the season, like asparagus, lettuce and rhubarb. Discover an array of vibrant spring-themed artisanal foods and crafts, home decor items and other products like farmers market; ocfmsoaps, candles and much more available for sale. Taking the time to explore the market is the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday morning!

The Oakland County Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from May through December and Saturdays only January through April.

Farm-fresh produce is healthy, supports local businesses and helps protect the environment. Check out the Michigan Produce Availability Guide to see when fresh produce will be in season and be sure to visit often to see what treasures you'll find this winter!

The Oakland County Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturdays only through the end of April.

Gleaners Food Distribution

Families and individuals in need of food are encouraged to attend a drive-up distribution event presented by Gleaners Community Food Bank from 9-10 a.m. Wednesdays, March 18 and April 1.

Cooking with edibleWOW Demonstration Series

Learn cooking secrets from local chefs as they use items available from Oakland County Farmers Market vendors during a series of free cooking demonstrations held in cooperation with edibleWOW. The final cooking demonstration of the 2026 series is scheduled from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21.with Chef Amber Poupore from Cacao Tree Café.

Craft, Create & Consume

Take the mystery out of growing fresh herbs during Craft, Create & Consume, an instructional herb planting and care class from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 23 or April 30 at the Oakland County Farmers Market. Participants will plant herbs in upcycled containers and enjoy light refreshments. This event is perfect for a night out solo or with friends.

Cost is $20/person and includes light refreshments, herbs and an upcycled containers. Participants can also bring their own container if they wish, up to 6 inches in diameter.

Class is for adults only. Online registration is required. Registration will close one day before the program date or until full. Space is limited. For more information, call 248-858-0916 or email events@oakgov.com.

Document Shredding Days

Oakland County residents may bring their confidential, personal documents to be shred on site for free vibe credit unionduring two Free Document Shredding Days from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Friday, Aug. 21. Recycling trucks will be in the parking lot. Residents are reminded to limit documents to three or four boxes of paper only for the shredding truck.

Please arrive early as there is typically a line of cars, but the line moves quickly. No sorting is allowed on site and this event is not for commercial customers.

Document Shredding Days are sponsored by Vibe Credit Union. Vibe Credit Union will be collecting non-perishable food items for local families during the shredding events.

Yoga, Tai Chi Wellness Series

The Oakland County Farmers Market Wellness Series features free, 45-minute yoga and tai chi lessons with Studio 8 Fitness instructors from May through September. Mark your calendar for Saturday morning yoga from 9:30-10:15 a.m. followed by tai chi from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on May 2, June 6, July 4, Aug. 1 and Sept. 5.

Then, make time for Lunchtime Yoga from noon-12:45 p.m. on May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17.

All sessions will be held outdoors on the grassy area to the west of the market building. Free yoga mats are available for the first 10 yoga participants. The Market Wellness Series is sponsored by University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital & Trinity Health Oakland HospitalDr. Anil Kumar and McLaren Oakland.

In case of inclement weather, program will be canceled. Watch the market’s Facebook page for updates. This program is hosted by the Oakland County Farmers Market in collaboration with Healthy Oakland Partnership.

The Oakland County Farmers Market provides grower-direct fresh produce, flowers and hand-made goods. Vendors showcase their products via indoor and outdoor stalls. Red Wood Grill provides on-site BBQ fare. Special events are held throughout the year, including Oakland Uncorked, Spring Flower Days and Moonlight Markets. Regular programming is hosted by Michigan State University Extension and Master Gardeners, as well as the Oakland Conservation District.
