natural resources

Oakland County Parks' Natural Areas program focuses on supporting the health of our natural areas by increasing stewardship of our native plant communities, re-introducing historic management practices and restoring natural habitat for biodiversity improvements and wildlife. To achieve this goal, we implement innovative solutions and adapt to changing management conditions using adaptive management techniques and monitoring programs.

Natural Area staff can be seen in the parks removing of invasive plant species, planting and seeding native plants; and restoring natural fire cycles through prescribed burns. These efforts work together to conserve and restore the ecology and ecosystem services unique to Oakland County, ensuring them for generations to come.
