County Executive Update on LegionellaThe facility continues to undergo periodic testing for legionella bacteria per Oakland County Health Department and State guidelines.

Legionella bacteria are commonly found in natural and man-made water systems. Its presence does not automatically mean there is a health risk. The bacteria spread through water droplets in the air and are not spread person-to-person. Symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease may include cough, fever, headache, muscle aches, shortness of breath, and in some cases confusion, nausea, or diarrhea. The courthouse remains open, and employees will continue to receive updates alongside the public press release.
