Waterford Oaks
Construction Update
The Paradise Peninsula area of Waterford Oaks County Park closed to the public June 6, 2025 to allow for delivery of new playground equipment and subsequent construction work. The renovated area is expected to reopen in 2026.
Please see the construction map below for details about trails and park areas that will be closed or re-routed.
The following work will be completed:
- New expanded playground
- New pavilion
- New adult fitness area
- New year-round restrooms

Fireworks and Flannels
Light the night at Waterford Oaks County Park as we kick off the Fireworks and Flannels two-day event! The festivities begin on Friday, Feb. 13 with the Light the Night Flannel 5K and then the fun continues on Saturday, Feb. 14 with Cozy Night Out, an evening filled with activities that highlight the cozier side of winter.
Light the Night Flannel 5K
Light the night at Waterford Oaks County Park as we kick off the Fireworks and Flannels two-day event! The race evening begins with the opening of the lighted trail at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. After the race, enjoy a cozy bonfire, hot cocoa and a quiet night under the stars.
The Light the Night Flannel 5K is out and back on paved and unpaved surfaces. View the race map. The event takes place when there is inclement weather and often snow, so please plan appropriately. Leashed dogs are allowed.
Race cost is $28/person. Each participant will receive a race beanie, medal and drink ticket for the Sat., Feb. 14 beer tent, part of the Fireworks and Flannels Cozy Night Out event. In addition to the beer tent, enjoy food trucks, music, fireworks and other activities on Feb. 14.

Cozy Night Out
Bundle up for Fireworks and Flannels Cozy Night Out from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at Waterford Oaks County Park. This is a free event, no registration necessary.
The schedule includes:
- 4-7 p.m. - Horse-drawn wagon rides and petting farm with pony rides
- 4-8 p.m. - Live music, food trucks, beer tent, sledding hill (weather permitting), face painting, winter games, crafts and an illuminated walking path
- 8 p.m. - Fireworks launch

Illuminated Walking Path
After Fireworks and Flannels comes to a close, continue to enjoy the Illuminated Walking Path. The path will be open from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 27-March 1.
