Pontiac Oaks – formerly known as Hawthorne Park – is in the construction phase of the improvements funded by the Oakland County Parks Healthy Communities Park and Outdoor Recreation Investment Plan. The anticipated investment of $2.215 million includes $1.3 million from the American Recovery Plan Act and $915,000 from Oakland County Parks’ capital improvement fund.

  • Making sure everyone is welcome to gather, relax and play at the park

What has been done

Work started in 2023 to improve existing park facilities and reopen closed facilities. The following has been completed or is underway:

  • New larger fishing pier
  • Expansion and renovation of playground
  • Renovation of restrooms
  • Installation of accessible kayak launch
  • Nature-based play pockets and playful pathways
  • Increased visibility and connection to Creger Lake
