About ECHO

Energizing Connections for Healthier Oakland (ECHO), convened by Oakland County Health Division, identifies health priorities and mobilizes partnerships to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities in Oakland County. It is overseen by an Advisory Council with representatives from hospitals, human services, behavioral health, higher education, businesses, parks and recreation, economic development, emergency response, community organizations, and elected officials.

About the Community Health Assessment and Improvement Plan Processes

The ECHO Advisory Council oversees and guides OCHD’s Community Health Assessment (CHA) every five (5) years. The assessment identifies key health needs and issues through systematic, comprehensive data collection, and analysis. The most recent assessment was completed in 2025. Watch this video to learn how the Community Health Assessment is conducted.

2025 Community Health Assessment

The 2025 Community Health Assessment (CHA) identified the top health issues and priorities in Oakland County. The four (4) strategic priorities for ECHO over the next five years will be:

  • Build more resilient communities through injury and violence prevention,
  • Improve equitable access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally appropriate food for all Oakland County residents,
  • Promote and increase access to healthy and affordable housing,
  • Ensure residents have access to affordable, high-quality physical and mental health care.

Read the Executive Summary and explore the full Community Health Assessment. These strategic priorities will become the backbone for the 2026 Community Health Improvement Plan. Email echo@oakgov.com for feedback, additional information about the CHA process, or questions about the data.

Community Health Improvement Plan

ECHO and the Advisory Council are working to create a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) to collectively address the strategic priorities. Email ECHO (echo@oakgov.com) if you would like to be involved with developing the 2026 Community Health Improvement Plan.
