Community Nursing
About
Oakland County Health Division’s Community Nursing Services provide Public Health Nurse home visitation to pregnant individuals and new parents in Oakland County. OCHD has more than 25 nurses working directly in the community, focused on disease prevention and health promotion.
In response to the disparity in maternal and infant mortality rate between African American and White babies, OCHD created a comprehensive plan, with targeted activities to reduce maternal and infant mortality. The overall disparity in the Oakland County African American infant mortality compared to Caucasian infant mortality has decreased respectively over the years. For more information on the current rates, visit the Michigan Vital Statistic website.
