What is PrEP? 

About

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication taken by people who are HIV negative to reduce their chances of getting HIV from sex or injection drug use.

Eligibility

Anyone who is HIV negative and is sexually active and/or uses injection drugs.

Anyone at higher risk of getting HIV. This includes those who:

  • Partner living with HIV
  • Multiple sexual partners or engage in unprotected sex
  • Diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the past six months
  • Share needles or syringes for drug use

What to Expect

Clients will be seen for an initial visit then 30 days later for a follow-up. Afterwards, visits will be scheduled every 2-3 months from the initial visit for HIV/STI testing, depending on their medication.

Appointments are required.

Fees

Insurance may be billed for client visit, but no client will be turned away for inability to pay. Assistance programs are available for those who are uninsured.

What is nPEP? 

About

Nonoccupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) is a medication taken within 72 hours of possible or known HIV exposure to help prevent contracting HIV.

Eligibility

nPEP must start as soon as possible - within 72 hours of possible/known HIV exposure. Clients must be HIV negative before starting nPEP and able to commit to a 28-day regimen of the medication.

What to Expect

Clients must be seen for an initial visit for HIV testing and other tests, and complete follow-up testing at 1 and 3 months.

Appointments are required.

Fees

Insurance may be billed for client visit, but no client will be turned away for inability to pay. Assistance programs are available for those who are uninsured.

What is doxyPEP?

About

DoxyPEP - doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis - is a medication taken after unprotected vaginal, oral, and/or anal sex to help prevent contracting some bacterial sexually transmitted infections. It reduces chlamydia and syphilis infections by more than 70% and gonorrhea infections by about 50%.

DoxyPEP does NOT help prevent viral infections such as HIV or mpox, and cannot be used in place of a condom.

Eligibility

DoxyPEP should be taken ideally within 24 hours but no later than 72 hours after unprotected sex.

You cannot take doxyPEP if you have a severe allergy to doxycycline or if you are pregnant.

Appointments

Walk-ins only, no appointment needed.

After taking doxyPEP, continue to test for STIs every 3 months or whenever you have symptoms.

Fees

$10 administration fee covers testing and treatment.
