Southfield woman appointed to fill Oakland County commission vacancy
Southfield resident Linnie Taylor is the newest Oakland County commissioner. She was appointed to fill a vacancy created when fellow Democrat Janet Jackson left the seat to become Southfield’s city clerk. The term expires Dec. 31, 2024.

Guns collected at Southfield buyback to be completely destroyed by GunBusters, church says
The church, which partnered with Southfield Police Department and the Oakland County Board of Commissioners in the buyback program, gave away about $19,000 in gift cards Saturday in return for the 133 handguns and 87 long guns.
