Commissioner Gershenson is married to Ken Robinson. Her son, Drew, and daughter-in-law, Megan, have a son, Samson. She was an active volunteer in the Birmingham Public Schools and is a former board member of Camp Make-A-Dream and the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. She started a Women's Commission for Oakland County and chaired the first Oakland County Childhood Obesity Conference.

In her spare time, Commissioner Gershenson enjoys traveling and is an avid sports fan.
