Madison Heights seeks federal funding for road repairs
Businesses on Avis Drive have written letters of support, along with Madison Heights residents serving on the city Planning Commission, and County Commissioner Ann Erickson Gault, who represents Madison Heights, Hazel Park and a portion of Troy.

Playscape at Green Acres Park receives substantial upgrade
The allocation that helped fund the project and others aimed at enhancing green spaces and recreational programming across the county was approved in 2022 by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.

Pontiac skatepark ribbon cutting coming this week
The project received funding from the Oakland County Commission and a matching grant from The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation Built to Play Program. The city added to the total to help get to the funding goal. In late 2021, The Tony Hawk Foundation granted the $250,000 match.

Innovation Hills to get new restrooms thanks to county grant
During its April 11 meeting, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Brendan Johnson to appropriate $250,000 for new restroom facilities at Innovation Hills Park in Rochester Hills.

Oakland County, Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency launch Oakland County Senior Chore Pilot Program
In September 2022, the Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution appropriating American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to support the Oakland Together Senior Initiatives, and it included an allocation of $3 million for the development of three-year county senior chore pilot program.

Hazel Park celebrates opening of new playground at Green Acres Park
In October of 2022, Oakland County Commissioners approved a $20.2 million investment plan with half being ARPA funds and have county funds, and there’s been an effort to make improvements in communities that had not historically seen county investment in parks, as well as increasing accessibility.

The funding comes from 911 surcharges on phone bills and $5 million from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ general fund.
