Solarize Oakland County
Welcome to Solarize Oakland County!
Solarize Oakland County helps residents, business owners, non-profits, houses of worship, and local governments buy solar power at a lower cost. This program is a partnership between the Oakland County Office of Sustainability and the non-profit Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association.
Here you will find Solarize OC resources, including scheduled events, an interest form, and FAQs.
What is Solarize Oakland County?
Solarize Oakland County is a community-based solar bulk-buy program designed to make solar power more affordable and accessible. Qualified participants include homeowners, business owners, non-profits, houses of worship, and local governments.
Solarize OC is organized through public events that bring together community members and local solar companies to learn about solar power, ask questions, and leverage bulk-buying power. This strategy reduces soft costs for installers and allows participants to benefit from those savings.
After the event, participants are given time to get quotes, do further research, and make a decision. The bulk-buy discount increases with each participant who goes solar, up to a maximum of 15% off. Additionally, businesses, places of worship, local governments, and non-profits have until the end of 2027 to take advantage of the 30% commercial Federal tax credit.

Why Participate in Solarize Oakland County?
There are many benefits for individuals, businesses, organizations, the community, and the environment. By adding solar to your property, you will save money on electricity over the course of the panel's life. You can decrease your property's overall environmental impact with energy saving strategies and solar power.
On average, the initial investment of solar panels will pay for itself in less than 10 years through energy savings. With the additional savings offered through Solarize OC, now it is a great time to go solar. There will be 6-8 Solarize OC events spread throughout the county in 2026. Sign up for update above or keep an eye on the event calendar below to find an event in your community.
