Bridging connections for positive community development and affordable housing, Michelle Foster leads a national association in Detroit that is dedicated to finding funding for affordable housing.

NASLEF has raised more than $18 billion in equity for affordable housing developments across the nation, improving the lives of countless individuals and families.

Foster also serves as the chair of the City of Ferndale’s Planning Commission, championing a landmark zoning ordinance update that reduces exclusionary zoning practices and promotes affordable housing accessibility. She is also involved in Community & Home Supports, a Detroit homeless service provider and the Michigan Rural Development Council. And she founded the Ferndale TimeBank, creating a platform for neighbors to exchange skills and services.

A Ferndale resident, Foster received a bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and a master’s degree from Wayne State University.
