PONTIAC, Mich. - On September 15th, 2023, Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Nadica Ristivojevic, a 58-year-old resident of West Bloomfield, with four counts of Larceny by Conversion ($1,000 to $20,000), stemming from defrauding customers. These charges are in addition to nine previously-issued charges against the defendant.
The defendant was the owner of Birmingham Bridal. It is alleged that multiple customers purchased thousands of dollars of custom wedding gowns, merchandise, and accessories, which they never received. The defendant was allegedly using funds from newer orders to pay for old orders. The shop abruptly closed in June 2023 without the customers receiving merchandise or a refund. Multiple customers were forced to place rush orders elsewhere ahead of their weddings. In total, victims were defrauded of approximately $50,000.
“The defendant robbed these victims of tens of thousands of dollars, but the stress, anxiety, and inconvenience she caused when she committed these crimes goes far beyond money. My office will continue pursuing justice for the numerous victims in this case.” stated Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald.
On September 19th, the defendant was arraigned on the new charges before Judge Kimberly Small in the 48th District Court. The defendant remains in the Oakland County Jail.
It is possible there are additional victims who were defrauded by this defendant. If you believe you are a victim, contact Detective Rebekah Springer of the Birmingham Police Department at 248-530-1895.
