Oakland County | Planning, Zoning and Land Use - Virtual PLANNERS GATHERING
Planners Gathering: Oakland County Food Landscape Study and Southfield Food Waste Pilot Program
Oakland County Health & Human Services recently completed a comprehensive Food Landscape Study examining the county’s local food system, including food access and food security. Join us for an overview of key findings and a discussion about where we go from here.
In addition, one of the issues identified during the study was the enormous volume of food waste – food that is going to landfills instead of people. The City of Southfield has established a food waste elimination plan and is currently working to implement it, led by the nonprofit Make Food Not Waste. An overview of the program will be provided, including a discussion of its ambitious goals.
