MiCareerQuest Southeast

MiCareerQuest Southeast is suspended until fall of 2022

Event Update

Oakland County Michigan Works!, in collaboration with Oakland County government officials and our partner agencies, has decided to temporarily suspend our highly successful MiCareerQuest Southeast event until the fall of 2022, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on in-person gatherings.

This decision was not made easily, but the hands-on nature of this career exploration event for high school students simply cannot be duplicated via a remote, virtual experience.  The uncertainty surrounding K-12 education this fall and concerns regarding our ability to raise sponsorship funding during these challenging economic times were also significant contributing factors in this decision.

We anticipate MiCareerQuest Southeast returning in 2022 with another amazing live event.  Thank you for your continued support.

What is MiCareerQuest Southeast?

MiCareerQuest Southeast is the region's largest interactive career exploration event for high school students. It exposes students to a broad range of exciting, rewarding career opportunities as they prepare for their futures!

Thousands of high school students from Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Wayne, Washtenaw and Livingston counties will be meeting with working professionals who have built successful careers in a variety of fields. In addition, young people will have the opportunity to touch, feel and work with the equipment, tools and technology used by people every day in a broad range of in-demand jobs.

The goal is to connect classroom learning with real-world jobs and their requirements. Students also will discover engaging workplace opportunities, such as internships, job shadowing and more.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who made MiCareerQuest Southeast 2019 a success. More than 9,000 high school students and chaperones from around the region got a hands-on look at 200 in-demand occupations.

The day could not have happened without the 1,000 professionals from 115 companies, educational institutions and labor organizations that worked with the students. We also appreciate the 170 volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly.
