Internship and Paid Work Experience

Let's build our region's future workforce together.  Employers can introduce their organizations to young talent and play an important role in building our region’s future workforce.  Partner with Oakland County Michigan Works! to host eligible young people 16-24 years old for a internship or paid work experience.

Giving young people these opportunities enables them to explore different career interests and pathways, learn from working professionals, develop productive workplace habits and engage in learning experiences that strengthen their social, civic and leadership skills.

Employers participate in the Young Professionals Program at limited to no cost. We cover the wages and associated program costs for eligible participants over the duration of the internship or paid work experience.

Who Participates in the Young Professionals Program?

Young people participating in the Young Professional Program are aspiring professionals between the ages of 16-24 years old, interested in pursuing careers in the private, nonprofit and public sectors.

All of them have met program eligibility requirements, with many representing underrepresented groups.

Your organization will have the opportunity to interview candidates and choose participants that are the best fit for your organization.
