The Water Resources Commissioner's Office operates and maintains 28 tipping-bucket rain gauges throughout Oakland County. Rainfall information is collected via telecommunication and saved on a central computer. The data are used for a variety of purposes such as in the analysis of sewer and drainage system performance.
This office publishes the latest rainfall information on a monthly basis. Rainfall is displayed in increments of hundredths of an inch.

Detailed rain gauge information is available in either a digital format or traditional paper copies via a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request. Digital information is provided in a comma-delimited format.
Requests for rainfall data should include your name, address, date-range sought, the type of data requested, i.e. either digital or paper copy, and the time increment needed such as five minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 24 hours.
