Clifford Gilliam1915-December 31, 1944, Age 29

Mr. Gilliam was from Walled Lake, MI.  He was attached to the 10th Infantry Battalion, 4th Armored Division.  He died in Bastogne, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.  He was the second service member from Walled Lake to die during World War II.  His father, Larry Gilliam, owned a hardware store at the corner of East Lake Drive and Liberty Street.  He was a graduate of Walled Lake High School, class of 1935.  A plaque, dedicated to his memory, is located in front of the Walled Lake Community Education Building.  He is buried at the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.  He has no known next of kin.
