As required by Michigan law, county treasurers must advertise properties that are at risk of tax foreclosure in a newspaper publication to notify the public. The Oakland County Treasurer's Office publishes this notification in The Oakland Press.
Notice of Property Tax Forfeiture
Residential and commercial property owners with unpaid delinquent taxes, interest, penalties and fees for 2021 and prior taxes received a Notice of Property Tax Forfeiture.
On March 1, 2023, the property will be subject to Property Tax Forfeiture unless the unpaid balance is paid in full, or a repayment plan is being paid. Additionally, a minimum fee of $235 will be added and a 18% interest rate per year will be applied which is retroactive to Mar. 1 of the previous year.
If the property is not redeemed by April 1, 2024, the right to redeem will expire and absolute title to the property shall vest in the foreclosing governmental unit. You have the right to redeem your property by immediately paying all unpaid delinquent taxes, interest, penalties, and fees shown below to the Oakland County Treasurer.
