How do I send mail to an inmate?
The mailing address is:

  • Inmate Name (cell location and Inmate Number)
  • P.O. Box 436017
  • Pontiac, MI 48343

You must include a valid return address.

What can I send to an inmate?
Plain cards and letters only. Nothing below allowed:

  • Cards larger than 5x7
  • Glues
  • Ink stamps
  • Glitter
  • Stains
  • White out
  • Lipstick
  • Perfume
  • Tape
  • Newspaper clippings
  • Photographs larger than 5x7 (10 picture limit)
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Stickers
  • Stamps
  • Envelopes
  • Instant photos​​
  • Nude photographs
  • Drugs of any type

Mail will be returned to sender if it contains any of the above items.

Can I send an inmate a package?
No packages of any kind, including food, will be accepted.  Plain cards and letters only.

​​Can I drop off mail for an inmate?
Mail must arrive via the U.S. Postal system.

Can I leave a message for an inmate?
The only message that can be delivered is a death notification of a family member, after confirmation of the death.

Can I subscribe to magazines and/or send books to an inmate?
Only new soft cover books and magazines may be sent to an inmate but they must come directly from the publisher or Internet distributor.  All publications must be new. No used material shall be accepted. There is a limit of three (3) books per delivery.
