Coats for the Cold

Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard is announcing the 31st year of the "Coats for the Cold" Coat Drive.  The Coat Drive will run from November 1-30, 2018.

The "Coats for the Cold" coat drive is sponsored by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with, COWS (Container on Wheels Mobile Storage), Real Estate One, Genisys Credit Union, 105.1 FM The Bounce Detroit, and many other community organizations around Oakland County., is providing the boxes for coat drop-off sites around the county, and COWS is providing their portable storage units at drop-off sites as well.  This year, we will also partner with the new Oakland County Pet Adoption Center, located on Oakland County's campus next to the Sheriff's Office Headquarters, to offer pet adoption discounts in exchange for coat donations.  For each donated coat, the donor will receive $10 off the cost of a pet adoption (up to five coats, or $50 off).

Local Real Estate One offices, and all of the Genisys Credit Union branches throughout Oakland County served as drop-off sites also.  We are grateful to all of our partners for their support!

"Coats for the Cold is an easy way for the community to reach out and help someone less fortunate stay warm this winter," Sheriff Bouchard said. "For the past 30 years, we have worked with local charitable organizations to provide free coats to those in need.  The community's generosity has been wonderful every year."

The new or clean, used coats collected during the month of November will be given to numerous different charitable organizations who will then distribute the coats to those most in need at no cost.
