Captain Russell Yeiser

Capt. Yeiser.jpgCaptain Russ Yeiser has been with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for over twenty-two years and is currently the Commander of the Rochester Hills Substation. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the substation, as well as all aspects of policing in the City of Rochester Hills.

Captain Yeiser started his law enforcement career with the Oxford Police Department in 1997. He joined the Sheriff's Office in 2000, when Oxford Township began contracting with OCSO for law enforcement services. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2013 and Captain in 2022.

Captain Yeiser has worked in many different areas within the Sheriff's Office, including Corrective Services, Patrol Services, Emergency Response and Preparedness, the Training Unit, the Rochester Hills Detective Bureau and 21 years on the SWAT team.

Captain Yeiser holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Rochester College and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Police School of Staff and Command, the Force Science Institute (Advanced Specialist in the Behavioral Analysis of Force Encounters) and the FBI National Academy.

Throughout the years, Captain Yeiser has received many awards, including Sheriff's Distinguished Unit Citations, Meritorious Service, Unit Citations, Professional Excellence and Commendation Citations and Lifesaving.

Captain Yeiser is also a veteran of the United States Air Force/MI Air National Guard.
