Captain Michael Johnson is the Commander of the Sheriff’s Office Rochester Hills Substation.
Captain Johnson was hired by the Sheriff’s Office as a Road Patrol Deputy in 1979. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988, Lieutenant in 2000, and to his current position of Captain in 2005. In his current role, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Rochester Hills Substation.
Captain Johnson previously was the Commander for the Brandon Township Substation and has worked in other key areas of the Sheriff’s Office including, Road Patrol, the Alcohol Enforcement Team,
the Narcotic Enforcement Team, the Fugitive Apprehension Team, and Corrections. He was a key member of the OakWin Radio Project and served both on the Tactical Mobile Unit and was an investigator with the Oakland County Citizens Grand Jury.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University in 1978 and graduated from the Oakland Police Academy in 1979. Captain Johnson has received three Citations for Professional Excellence and a Distinguished Unit Citation for his work at the Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Trustees for CARE House of Oakland County, a member of the Oakland County Child Abuse and Neglect Collaborative Organization, a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Baker College, and a member of both the CLEMIS
Advisory Board and CLEMIS Strategic Planning Board.
