Captain Larry Perry is the Commander of the Emergency Response and Preparedness Division. Captain Perry was hired by the Sheriff's Office as a Deputy in 1992. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2007, and to his current position of Captain in 2020. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the Sheriff's Homeland Security, Training Unit, Civil Unit, and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
Captain Perry has previously served as a Substation Commander for the contracted areas of Oxford and Independence Townships of the Patrol Services Division and worked in many areas of the Sheriff's Office including the Satellite / Court Services Division, Corrections Division, and Uniformed Patrol. Currently, he is Commander of SWAT Team, and is a representative of the Sheriff's Office to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, Department of Homeland Security.
He attended Western Michigan University and is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy Class # 259. Captain Perry has received many awards including; National Medal of Merit, Life Saving Award, American Legion Auburn Hills Post Deputy of the Year, Meritorious Service Citations, Professional Excellence Citations, and Distinguished Unit Citations.
