How You Can Help

Volunteers are an invaluable asset to our adoptable animals!  They are crucial to helping our furry friends find homes.  Volunteers assist with events, work at the center, and most importantly, keep the animals socialized.  We could not do what we do without YOU!  To learn more, please see our Volunteer page.

Donations are essential to the success of the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center.  They are used to provide animals with the proper medical attention and everyday needs.  For more information or to donate online, please see our Donations page.

Participate in one of our special programs:

Barn Buddies: This program is designed to find homes for cats that may be unaccustomed to enjoying human companionship and prefer the outdoors.  If you have a safe, warm barn or other outbuilding, please see our Barn Buddies program page for more information.

C.A.T.S. Program: This program offers seniors the opportunity to foster a cat with all necessary supplies provided.  Please see our C.A.T.S. Program page for more information.

Fitness Unleashed: Start the trend and become a Fitness Unleashed Ambassador in your work place!  Spend your lunch break walking dogs and socializing cats.  For more information, please see our Fitness Unleashed page.

Teacher’s Pet: We pair hard-to-adopt dogs with at-risk youth for a 10-week training session.  The program works with youth from Kingsley Montgomery School in Waterford, Children’s Village in Waterford, Crossroads for Youth in Oxford, and Mount Clemens Juvenile Justice Center.  For more information please see our Teacher’s Pet program page
