2023 Free Entry Days

On Oakland County Parks and Recreation Free Entry Days, visitors can enjoy free daily park entry with access to trails, dog parks, playgrounds, beaches at Groveland Oaks and Independence Oaks (seasonal) and fishing spots. Free Entry Days in 2023 are scheduled for the following dates:

  • May 6-7 - Spring Park Days
  • June 19 - Juneteenth
  • Aug. 26 - National Pet Day (at dog parks only)
  • Sept. 16-17 - Fall Park Days (does not apply at Groveland Oaks County Park during Haunted Hallows weekend) 
  • Nov. 11 - Veterans Day
  • Nov. 23 - Thanksgiving Day
  • Dec. 24 - Christmas Eve
  • Dec. 25 - Christmas Day
  • Dec. 31 - New Year’s Eve

Archery Hunting

Archery hunting for white-tailed deer (with some limitations) is allowed in this park, hunting locations and rules are listed in the individual park archery maps that can be found here.  No parks allow firearm hunting.

The pavilion is adjacent to a modern restroom building with access to the park's hiking trails and short walk to Lake Sixteen, which offers an accessible fishing dock and non-motorized boating.
