Independence Oaks

Road Commission for Oakland County expects to close Sashabaw Road just south of the Pine Knob Road intersection in Independence Township Aug. 11 through early November to replace a culvert that carries the Whipple Lake Canal under the road. The detour for through traffic is Seymour Lake Road to Baldwin Road to Clarkston Road, back to Sashabaw Road and vice versa. Due to construction, the Independence Oaks Safety Path is closed just south of Independence Oaks - North.

For more information on the project, please visit the Road Commission website.

The water at Independence Oaks County Park’s beach is tested weekly by the Oakland County Health Division. Due to a high E. coli count in the water, the beach has been closed.

The Oakland County Health Division will continue to do additional samplings and we will re-open as soon as the water test meets the recognized health standards.

You may contact the Oakland County Health Department Environmental Health Division for additional information.
