Construction project at Catalpa Oaks County Park
Catalpa Oaks County Park will be upgraded with approximately $702,000 in enhancements including a 0.6-mile aggregate perimeter pathway that meets Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
A 2018 public survey and open house indicated multi-use trails as the highest requested development priority for the park. Historically, a berm around the park perimeter has been frequently used by walkers and joggers resulting in an existing informal dirt path.
The perimeter pathway project also includes concrete pathways that will connect into existing neighborhood sidewalks and the Greenfield Road sidewalk.
Additionally, two of the park's four soccer fields will be graded to improve drainage and irrigation installed to improve turf quality and increase playability of the fields.
A maintenance storage shed and two electrical pedestals, for park special events, will be installed during the construction project.
Construction is underway and expected to be completed in October. The park's pavilion, playground, two ball fields and restrooms will remain open during construction. All four soccer fields will be closed and fenced off for the safety of park visitors.
