Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-21 (Covid-19) suspended activities not required to sustain life. That order directly impacts the opening of the five Oakland County Parks and Recreation golf courses. Under the current order, the courses are required to be closed. Course opening dates are to be determined based on direction and dates provided by Governor Whitmer.
Currently, OCPR golf course staff is only allowed to perform minimal maintenance under the executive order. Additionally, all hiring initiatives for the parks system have been suspended.
We are, however, working remotely on policies and procedures to best facilitate a safe atmosphere for our staff and golfers once the courses are allowed to open. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you on the greens in the future.
Five unique courses offer play for golfers of all ages and abilities.
Glen Oaks in Farmington Hills, Lyon Oaks in Wixom, Springfield Oaks in Davisburg and White Lake Oaks in White Lake are challenging 18-hole courses with scenic beauty. All four offer clubhouses with pro shops and grill rooms for pre-game or after-golf fare. Elegant banquet facilities are available for weddings, outings and special occasions.
Red Oaks and White Lake Oaks are home to FootGolf, which combines the popularity of golf with soccer. Birthday and group parties are offered.
Leagues, golf clinics for juniors and adults, outings and discounted golf reward programs are available at all five courses.
And all five courses are certified by the Michigan Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Program for exceeding requirements to protect natural resources.
