​Media are invited to cover the first active shooter training session for Oakland County teachers and school staff which will take place Thursday afternoon. The training session - a result of collaboration among Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard and Oakland Schools Superintendent Vickie Markavitch - will feature experts from Oakland County Homeland Security Division and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office on how to react during an active shooter situation.
Media cameras will be allowed inside the conference room for the first 10 minutes of the program. Reporters will be able to remain in the room afterward. Media may also gather interviews from attendees as they arrive or depart outside the conference center.
Homeland Security Division Manager Ted Quisenberry will be available to answer media questions prior to the start of the program which begins promptly at 1 p.m.
