Media Advisory

Dozens of county employees will use their lunch break Thursday to walk dogs available for adoption from the Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center. Called "Fitness Unleashed," this program is a collaboration with OakFit, County Executive L. Brooks Patterson’s innovative employee wellness initiative.

The program is similar to one the Animal Control began several months ago when it gave local businesses the option of allowing their employees to walk dogs during lunch. As many as eight companies accepted the offer and now walk the dogs on a regular basis.

County employees were required to register in advance and sign a waiver before taking the dogs for a spin. They were also given disposable gloves and a plastic bag for obvious reasons.

Fitness Unleashed runs every Thursday through Oct. 31 at various county buildings.
Thursday, Aug. 15 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
South lawn of the Oakland County Courthouse, 1200 N. Telegraph, Pontiac
