Patterson’s Count Your Steps 10th Anniversary Finale Gets Kids Moving At The Detroit Zoo

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson invites the winning schools of the 10th annual Count Your Steps program, along with Detroit Zoo mascots, to take a “victory lap” around the Detroit Zoo. The three winning schools will be announced at the event. Patterson recorded a special video message for the winners.
 
Count Your Steps is Patterson’s pedometer walking program to fight childhood obesity. This year, more than 13,000 students from over 100 schools walked almost 1 billion steps. Since the program’s inception in 2004, more than 200,000 Oakland County third- and fourth-grade students have logged more than 18 billion steps or 360 times around the Earth.
