Body Mass Index and Blood Pressure Screenings Offered at Flu Clinics

​Pontiac, Michigan -- The Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) will offer body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure screenings during flu clinics at the Pontiac and Southfield office locations. The screenings, which are part of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson’s vision for enhancing the quality of life in Oakland County through active and healthier lifestyles, are provided at no cost and open to anyone who is interested. Flu clinic hours are noon – 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

"Knowing your BMI and blood pressure is essential to improving your health," Patterson said. "We want to offer these screenings at the same time as our flu clinic so that our residents can take advantage of a quick and easy one-stop check for better health."

BMI and blood pressure screenings will only be offered at flu clinics in OCHD offices located at the following addresses:

  • North Oakland Health Center
    1200 N. Telegraph Road
    Building 34 East

  • South Oakland Health Center
    27725 Greenfield Road

"Health Division shares Patterson's vision for a healthier Oakland County and the vision for a healthier Michigan as laid out in the Michigan Health and Wellness 4 x 4 Plan," said Kathy Forzley, manager/health officer of the Oakland County Health Division. "This plan stresses knowing key health measures including BMI and blood pressure and incorporates prevention measures such as health screenings as important steps to save lives, reduce disability, and lower healthcare costs."

Flu shots are $16 and no appointment is necessary. Residents can register and pay online at Visa and MasterCard are only accepted online. Other forms of online payment include Medicare and/or Medicaid, or residents may select to pay cash at the time of appointment. Flu shots are also available on a walk-in basis. Walk-in payment options include Medicare, Medicaid and cash (no credit cards, checks or money orders). Residents may also register over the phone by calling 248-858-7350 or 248-424-7120.
