The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office seeks the assistance of the public to help locate next of kin and/or friends to claim remains. Efforts are made to locate next of kin to claim the body, including posts on this website, comprehensive internet searches, and local law enforcement resources. If no responses are generated, the process of county cremation will begin for Oakland County to take jurisdiction and begin county disposition procedures.

The cremated remains will be held at the Medical Examiner’s Office for approximately 6 months and then will be interred at a local cemetery.

In the event the deceased or the legal next of kin does not have sufficient funds for burial, the organizations listed below may help and recommend regarding interment.
