Pet Insurance
At Oakland County, we recognize that pets are family, too! Pet Insurance is available to Oakland County full-time employees through PetPartners starting May 1, 2025.
The last day of Pet Insurance Open Enrollment was April 15, 2025. Full-time employees will have the opportunity to enroll again during Open Enrollment in the Fall for an effective date of January 1, 2026.
If you have enrolled in Pet Insurance and need to register your pet, file a claim or access your account online, you can click HERE. For first time registration, use your personal email address as an identifier for your account.
Here is how it works:
- Visit any licensed vet or clinic
- Pay your vet and submit a claim
- Get reimbursed for eligible expenses
Highlights:
- Common items the plan covers are illnesses, broken bones, diagnostics, surgery, digestion issues, toxin ingestion, and more!
- Plans have an annual limit of $5,000 per year
- $300 annual deductible and 20% coinsurance apply
- Insurance does not apply to preventative care
- Emergency room exams are excluded from coverage
- The minimum age of enrollment is 8 weeks, maximum is 10 years (must be enrolled prior to age 11)
- Pre-existing conditions are covered after 12 months
- Credit can be given for prior coverage
- 2025 Rates
- $11.98 per dog per paycheck post-tax
- $6.29 per cat per paycheck post-tax

Michigan Education Savings Program 529
Oakland County is making it easier than ever to save for college. Upon opening a Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) 529 College Savings Account, payroll deductions can be set up to directly fund your MESP account. MESP accounts offer tax-free growth for use at an accredited school in the U.S. or abroad.
The Michigan Education Savings Program direct sold 529 college savings plan is managed by TIAA.
