Development Tools

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Oakland County communities, developers, and property owners have a number of community and economic development tools at their disposal. The following tools may be used to develop a district, board, and possible funding mechanisms for improvements, development and redevelopment projects.​

Brownfield Initiative

The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) is the administrative board advancing the goals and accomplishing the tasks identified for the Oakland County Brownfield Initiative.​

​​​​​Development Authorities & TIF​
​​​Michigan law allows communities to create development authorities that utilize Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for purposes such as downtown development or commercial corridor improvements.​​​
