2016 Project of the YearOakland County provides federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) funding to communities for revitalization projects. The program strengthens neighborhoods by supporting local revitalization, home improvement and public services for senior citizens, low income persons and families, disadvantaged youth and disabled residents throughout most of Oakland County.

The City of Lake Angelus, Farmington Hills, Southfield, Novi Township, Royal Oak, Southfield Township, Waterford Township and the Village of Bingham Farms do not participate in the CDBG Program.

Senior Wellness ActivitiesFunding is provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to keep communities sound, attractive and economically viable.

  • Minor Home Repair
  • Housing Rehabilitation
  • Programs Serving Senior Citizens, Disabled Persons, Youth, Abused Persons and Children
  • Transportation and Emergency Services

Participating communities receive a formula share of funds for eligible activities that best meet community needs.  Citizens are encouraged to get involved in the local decision-making process.

Under the Davis Bacon Act contractors and sub-contractors on federally-supported construction and public works projects must pay their workers local prevailing wages and fringe benefits.
