COVID-19 Testing

Testing allows the Health Division to monitor the virus in our community and keep us safe and open. We are working very closely with a local laboratory called Orchard Laboratories to provide COVID-19 testing to individuals that live and work in Oakland County. Orchard Laboratories uses Solv to help patients schedule visits, send helpful appointment reminders, and make checking in easier.

Drive through testing information

Same Day Drive-Ups

If making an appointment is difficult because of your situation or circumstances, same day drive-ups are now available at the below locations on the days and times listed. If you do not make an appointment, you may experience extended wait times.

At each location you’ll find signage that will direct you to the “NO APPOINTMENT” entrance.

Drive-ups will not be accepted at any site after 3 PM.

Who Qualifies

  • All adults age 18 and over
  • Children 4-to-17-years-old. Child must have symptoms of coronavirus and be a resident of or attend school in Oakland County.

Insurance / Payment Information

After you complete the online form and select “continue,” you will see a screen that says “Add Insurance.”

  • Insurance is not a barrier for COVID-19 Testing. If you do not currently have insurance coverage, simply select “Skip uploading photos” when you are prompted to add insurance and Oakland County will cover your testing costs. No financial information will be taken from you, nor will you be charged for any COVID-19 Testing.
  • If you currently have health insurance, please complete the requested Insurance information and follow the steps to complete your order. Under the CARES Act, Individuals are not subject to co-pays or deductibles for COVID-19 testing.

If You Have an Appointment

  • Come to the location at your assigned appointment time.
  • Only the individual(s) with a scheduled appointment will be tested.
  • Bring a photo ID (if available) when you arrive at the testing site.
  • The test cannot be completed if pets are in the vehicle.
  • The person receiving the test will remain in the vehicle the entire time.
  • The test will be done by inserting a swab into the nose or mouth of the symptomatic individual.
  • Once swabbed, the sample is taken to the lab where it is analyzed.
  • There is no medical care provided at the drive-up testing site.
  • Test results will be provided within 24 to 48 hours. If authorized, you will be sent your results by text message. If text messaging is not available an email from will be sent to the email address you provided (check spam folder if you do not receive). If you have not heard from any of those sources, call 248-579-5161 to speak to a provider about your results.
  • Symptomatic individuals should isolate to avoid the spread of the illness.
