A Waterford-based option for out-of-home placement is with Oakland County Children's Village
. The Children's Village is operated under the control of the County Executive and is licensed for detention, shelter care, and treatment by the Family Independence Agency. There are separate treatment units for boys and girls on the grounds. Youngsters attend school on campus. The programs vary slightly, utilizing a level system and group therapy to help youngsters internalize control. The average length of stay is approximately six months.
