​The Circuit Court is a division of the state judiciary and serves as a trial court of general jurisdiction serving all the citizens of Oakland County. 

It hears both civil and criminal cases, as well as appeals from the District Court, Probate Court and administrative agencies. The Court has sole and exclusive jurisdiction on certain matters involving the family

By Court Order, individuals entering the Courthouse are to abide by the following court rules:

No cameras, camera phones, or electronic recording devices, and
No weapons or cutting instruments allowed.

  • Effective 10/26 the Honorable Cheryl Matthews will assume the Civil Criminal Docket of Judge Colleen O’Brien. The Family Division docket heard by Judge Matthews will be reassigned to incoming Judge Jeffery Matis with some exceptions. The Civil Criminal docket vacated by Judge Rudy Nichols will be reassigned to incoming Judge Hala Jarbou. Please refer to Court Explorer to confirm case assignments.
