Waterford Oaks
Construction Update
The Paradise Peninsula area of Waterford Oaks County Park closed to the public June 6, 2025 to allow for delivery of new playground equipment and subsequent construction work. The renovated area is expected to reopen in 2026.
Please see the construction map below for details about trails and park areas that will be closed or re-routed.
The following work will be completed:
- New expanded playground
- New pavilion
- New adult fitness area
- New year-round restrooms

Upcoming Events
Pet Wellness Clinic
Our Pet Wellness Clinic provides your pet with quick, affordable preventative care that helps keep them safe and protected. Join us from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 2 at Waterford Oaks County Park to get your pet vaccinated, obtain preventative care, receive microchipping and/or purchase a dog license. Vaccinations, heartworm tests, flea prevention and dewormer are available.
Additional Pet Wellness Clinics will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. as follows:
- May 9 - Orion Oaks Dog Park, Big Meadows Pavilion
- May 16 - Independence Oaks County Park, Pine Grove Pavilion

For pet safety, bring dogs on a short leash with a snug collar and cats in a carrier. No appointment is needed.

Nurtured By Nature Forest Therapy Walk
Nurture your well-being as you experience the physical and mental health benefits of forest bathing from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. May 16 at Waterford Oaks County Park. During this nature wellness series, participants will enjoy the benefits of forest therapy, a slow restorative walk in a natural setting that follows a standard sequence of elements.
Other sessions in this series include:
- June 26, 7-9 p.m. – Summer Sunset Forest Therapy Walk at Rose Oaks County Park Nature Area
- July 16, 10 a.m.-noon – Refresh and Renew Forest Therapy Walk at Highland Oaks County Park Nature Area
- Aug. 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m. – Dusk to Dark Forest Therapy Walk at Oak Park Woods
Cost is $15/person/session. Online registration with payment required.

Headquarters of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission, 199-acre Waterford Oaks is also home to the world-class Waterford Oaks Bicycle Motocross (BMX) Track; more than three miles of hiking trails; the universally-accessible Paradise Peninsula Playscape; two platform tennis and year-round pickleball courts; sand volleyball courts; a winter family sledding hill; and outdoor fitness equipment. Lookout Lodge, Waterford Oaks Event Center and picnic shelters are available for rent. The Oakland County Farmers Market, open three days a week May-December and Saturdays only January-April, provides grower-direct produce, fresh flowers and artisan goods..
