Electronic Death Registration System

Electronic Death Registration System

‚ÄčIt's here!! We are pleased to announce that we are now offering the State of Michigan's Electronic Death Registry System (EDRS). The EDRS allows for the electronic submission and acceptance of death records from funeral homes, medical examiners and physicians.

If your facility is already using the EDRS for filing death records with another city or county clerk's office, you need not do anything further.

If you have not yet filed a death record through EDRS, you will need to sign up to use the system and obtain a fingerprint scanner, which is required to sign in to this system. The steps to become an EDRS user and the fingerprint scanners are available (at no charge) from the Division for Vital Records and Health Statistics in Lansing. Please contact them directly at (517) 373-6579 or by email at hoffmans1@michigan.gov.

In addition, if you would like training on the application, please send an email to schlakj@oakgov.com. If there is enough interest we will schedule a training session. For more information on the EDRS, including instruction manuals and online training modules, please visit https://public.mphi.org/sites/edrs.

Please check back for future communications, including possible training dates and our Go-Live date.
