Due to the Governor's order, our office is closed to the public and all in-office services, including phone calls, have been suspended. As of May 12, 2020 we are indexed through May 5, 2020. You may go to Super Index to search property records for free. We are still processing E-Recordings. Mail sent in is being processed. The Register of Deeds office will be limiting the number of customers we service in our office and will do so on an appointment only basis. We will begin making appointments the week of May 18, 2020, for appointments starting on Tuesday May 26, 2020. You may call 248-858-0606 beginning May 18, 2020 to schedule an appointment for recording services.

All individuals doing business within our office must wear a mask or face covering. Please do not bring anyone with you unless his or her assistance is necessary to help you during the appointment.

Documents may be mailed in for recording. All fees must be paid at the time of recording. Checks are to be made payable to Oakland County Register of Deeds. After recording, the documents will be returned by mail after Indexing unless otherwise specified on the document.Our mailing address is: Oakland County Register of Deeds, 1200 N. Property recording fees are a flat fee of $30.00 per document, no matter how many pages.

Warranty Deeds and Deeds with Consideration amounts over $100.00 are subject to both County and State transfer tax.

  • County transfer tax is computed at the rate of $1.10 per $1000.00.
  • State transfer tax is computed at the rate of $7.50 per $1000.00.

Warranty Deeds and Land Contracts must be certified by the Oakland County Treasurers Office prior to being submitted for recording in our Office for a fee of $5.00.

The fees to file UCC's are $45.00.

The Register of Deeds Office creates a public record for all land situated in Oakland County. This includes deeds, mortgages, foreclosure records and personal property filings. By using US Land Records or Super Index you can obtain copies of any recorded document(s) which date back to January 1, 1964, with the exception of subdivision plat maps.

Documents recorded with our office are scanned and microfilmed using the most modern methods to ensure safety and replacement at any time. Recorded documents are indexed and returned to the submitter in a prompt manner by U.S. Mail, unless otherwise noted.

Please note: The Register of Deeds office does not handle birth certificates, other vital records or UCC filings for transferring utilities.
