Community Involvement: 

From 2011-2015 Tietz served as a Troy City Councilman where he emphasized open and responsive government by building consensus with his colleagues.  Within the first 12 months of his election, Tietz lead the effort to place the city’s check register online and added additional time in the city council agenda for public comment. 

Tietz is Chairman of the Troy Community Foundation, a member of the Troy Kiwanis club, and former president of Top of Troy Toastmasters. He has been a regional judge of the "We the People" high school civics competition since 2010. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.


Commissioner Doug Tietz lives in Troy with his wife, Amy, and their two children.
