David was born and raised in his district. He is a graduate of Detroit County Day High School.  David earned a B.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University and a M.P.A focusing in non-profit organization management from Wayne State University. David studied abroad in London, England and worked at the non-profit organization War on Want.  At War on Want, David worked as a public relations specialist examining human rights violations occurring in Europe.
