FORMER BOARD VICE CHAIRMAN JEFF MATIS IS APPOINTED TO OAKLAND COUNTY'S 6TH CIRCUIT COURT

BOARD HONORS DR. MONA HANNA ATTISHA FOR SHEDDING LIGHT ON FLINT WATER CRISIS
At the December 9, 2015 board meeting, Oakland County Commissioner Dave Woodward, along with the entire Oakland County Board of Commissioners, honored Dr. Mona Hanna Attisha. Dr. Attisha was instrumental in bringing to light the lead poisoning of children in Flint, Michigan.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING COMMITTEE, OAKLAND COUNTY SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM, AND OTHER AWARD WINNERS RECOGNIZED AT NOVEMBER 12TH BOARD MEETING
The Board's Human Trafficking Committee and the Oakland County Social Media Team were honored for winning the Golden Post Award for "Best Government Social Media Campaign" at the November 12, 2015 board meeting. LEBANESE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 11TH ANNUAL AUTUMN LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON & GLOBAL BUSINESS ECONOMIC FORUM
On October 30, 2015, Oakland County Commissioner Wade Fleming presented a proclamation to John Akhouri, President of the Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon, held at Maggiano's Little Italy in Troy, benefited The Pink Fund to highlight October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

NATIONAL ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY MONTH
At the August 26, 2015 Board meeting, Commissioners
presented proclamations to the Oakland County Community Mental
Health/OSAS and Oakland County Health Division in recognition of their
efforts to promote and support National Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Recovery Month in Oakland County.
On September 25, 2015, the 8th
Annual Oakland County Recovery Month Celebration and Walk will be held
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Oakland County Market, located at
2350 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford, Michigan. For event information,

BOARD HONORS TALENT AND SERVICE OF WE 3 & SHE
We 3 & She members Cayenne Johnson, Erica
Maroud and Ginger Johnson performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at the
August 26th Board meeting before receiving their proclamations. The
five-member group was honored for their contributions to several worthy
causes and events over the years. The group has frequently performed
free of charge to raise money and awareness about cancer, Huntington's
Disease, suicide prevention and many other important issues. These
music ambassadors have performed throughout Southeast Michigan and

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT COMMEMORATION
August 13, 2015, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners honored and celebrated the 50th

BOARD HONORS STATE'S HOUSING COUNSELORS OF THE YEAR
On May 6, 2015, Oakland County Commissioners recognized
Lon Shook and Kathy Williams for being selected by the Michigan State Housing
Development Authority as the 2015 and 2014 Housing Counselor of the Year. These
two individuals are an example of the best in housing counseling in the state.

2015 CRIME VICTIMS SERVICES DISTINCTION
AWARD FOR PROFESSIONAL INNOVATION
In recognition of National Crime Victim's Rights Week,
April 19th-25th, Oakland County officials honored outstanding professional service providers and organizations. This year's theme of "Engaging Communities, Empowering
Victims" was observed as Oakland officials presented awards to area honorees on
April 23rd at a special recognition held in the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners Auditorium at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac,
Michigan. In the photo below, Emily McIntyre, Oakland County Prosecutor's Victim's Rights Supervisor, is honored for her outstanding professional work on behalf of Crime Victims Week.

25TH ANNUAL OAKLAND COUNTY WALK FOR WARMTH
On February 7, 2015 Commissioners joined with other officials at the OLHSA (Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency) 25th annual Oakland County Walk for Warmth at Great Lakes Crossing. All of the proceeds raised at the walk are used to help Oakland County families facing heating emergencies.

2ND ANNUAL OAKLAND COUNTY KIDSPEAK EVENT
Oakland County Officials gave voice to area youth in the foster care system at the County's second annual KidSpeak Event on January 26, 2015. Speakers from the ages of 15-years old to adults, who were a part of the system, addressed the listening panel of elected officials and service providers. Many current and former foster care youth spoke about the system and how to make it better as well as revealed problems they experienced in the system. About 20 KidSpeak speakers talked about their experience.
