The Economic Growth Alliance of Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Shiawassee, and St. Clair counties (EGA) was formed in 2009 to collaborate on key legislative, economic development, planning, and promotional initiatives. The seven-county group is the first known regional alliance of its kind in Michigan.
The alliance represents nearly
three million residents and more than 73,000 businesses. It focuses on joint opportunities for economic growth, industry diversification and global prosperity. EGA works together to expand business opportunities for the region by promoting area assets including Bishop International Airport, the Blue Water Bridge, the corridors of I-69, I-94, US-23 and M-59 as well as the focused economic efforts of each county.
The EGA was originally convened with an understanding that the ability of any one locale to attract new investment and create jobs benefits the entire region. By working cohesively, EGA offers a strategic advantage like no other. The alliance meets quarterly, or as-needed, to discuss key economic and business development initiatives and opportunities for its member counties, the region, and the state.
