Main Street Oakland County Awards

Each community has had impactful people, projects or events that have shaped their downtown over that time. Whether it be the individual who leads the charge to becoming a Main Street, the saving of a historic building that the community rallied behind, an event that grew from 10 attendees to 1,000, or a development that improved the long term economic outlook of the downtown.

Winning an MSOC award adds prestige to your downtown and allows your community to take a bow and highlights the value of the work being done.

April 21, 2021 - American Express Blog Post on Shop Small “Order In, Help Out” Innovation Challenge Winners

Oakland County congratulates Downtown Rochester on being the first place ($5,000) winner in the nation-wide American Express Shop Small “Order In, Help Out” Innovation Challenge!

From promoting curbside pickup hours to helping restaurants provide meals to first responders, Main Streets have been rallying their communities to support local restaurants since the beginning of the pandemic.  This award recognizes innovative marketing campaigns that encouraged support of local restaurants. Applicants had to design and run a local marketing campaign that brings the “Order In, Help Out” movement to their community.

Entries were judged on strategy; innovation and engagement; feasibility; need and response to COVID-19 pandemic; and results and impact. Downtown Rochester’s first place award win was announced at the 2021 Main Street Now Conference, and they were invited to present their innovative ideas at a session.
